Branstiter Museum- Old Streets of Greenwood, Wis

The Branstiter Old Streets of Greenwood Museum is located at 602 S. Main Street in Greenwood, Wisconsin. This museum was built by Don Branstiter and opened to the public in 1991. At that time, it was only open once a year, Sunday afternoon after the Dairy Days parade. Don was an avid antique collector for years and especially liked Greenwood artifacts, old cars and trucks. It was for this reason he built this museum, to share his hobby with others. Don passed away very suddenly in 1993. The Branstiter family donated the museum to the City of Greenwood in 1995 with a dedication ceremony after the Dairy Days parade.

Visitors enter the museum through a door that once was the doorway of the Baptist Church. It reminds one of the “Little Brown Church in the Vale”. Once inside you follow a boardwalk along a cobblestone street past a blacksmith’s tools, flour barrels and 17 business store fronts. You will see the loading dock of the Wuethrich Creamery, Doc Olson’s medical office, the brick facade of the old Farmer’s Store and the worn pencils on the actual receptionist desk of the North Side Hotel. The Branstiter Old Streets of Greenwood Museum also showcases the following:

  • wall displaying over 170 pictures of early Greenwood, depicting people, places, and events
  • over 400 varieties of tools and equipment used in the early dairy and lumber days of Greenwood
  • antique miniature car collection consisting of 38 cars
  • coin collection dating back to 1834
  • collection of 238 toy tractors from 11 different manufacturers
  • stamp collection
